Biography
About
I'm a Rwandan guitarist, composer, educator, and curator based in the U.S. on an O-1B visa for artists with extraordinary ability. I play fingerstyle guitar shaped by African string traditions — especially the Inanga and Rwandan palm wine music — and have spent the past decade creating space for those sounds to live and grow.
My journey began in Rwanda, where I founded Fingerpickers in Africa, a platform dedicated to teaching, performing, and promoting fingerstyle guitar across the continent. Since then, I've taught private students, led workshops, and performed in 13 European countries, the UK, East Africa, and the U.S. In 2023, I became the first fingerstyle guitarist from Rwanda to tour internationally.
In 2025, I partnered with Gisimba Memorial Center to co-develop Rwanda's first Trauma-Informed Music Education (TIME) program — a care-centered model of music education for young people, rooted in identity, emotional safety, and cultural continuity.
This work is personal. I translate endangered musical forms into modern acoustic language — not as tribute, but as living, evolving practice. For me, music isn't just about performance. It's about memory, care, and honest connection — on stage and far beyond it.
